Fender Champion Lap Steel 1950 White Pearl
$1,249.99No sales tax for customers outside California.
The early 50s Fender Champion lap steel is a monster, thanks to the Broadcaster (Telecaster) pickup. The pickup would be a drop-in replacement in an early Tele if the baseplate was made the same as the guitar version. Some people are adapting the pickups from these steels to a plate that allows their use in Teles.
When we inspected the steel we found that the original tone capacitor had been changed out. The controls had also been reversed. I added a cool Ukranian made, paper-in-oil tone cap and wired so that the tone knob is nearest the pickup. The pots are original.
Everything else is original with the exception of the tuner buttons, which were updated to replace what were likely crumbled original ones.
The original case is included.
