Fender Limited Edition '67 Smuggler Telecaster Closet Classic 2016 Black

Fender ran into batches of heavy swamp ash in the late 70s, and players didn't dig it.  In response to some blowback, they made some batches of Telecasters with routed weight-relief chambers under the pickguard, which became known unofficially as the Smuggler Telecaster.  

The weight of this guitar is just 6 pounds, 9.5 ounces.

This Custom Shop limited edition guitar mimics all the features of a 67 tele, from the smuggler routes, to the bridge, and the much-loved maple cap fretboard.  In case you didn't know, Teles in this era aren't just one piece of maple.  They have a curved slice of maple that is applied just like a rosewood board would be.  

The stock, hand-wound Fender pickups are a bit on the lower output side, which I believe gives you better tone with a wider frequency range - more like a 50's Tele.

The guitar is all original and pretty much just as it came from Fender all though the cool clear pickguard currently installed is a reproduction of the one that Fender originally included. The multi-ply white guard that Fender also included along with the clear one is in the case. There is no detectable fretwear and only the lightest signs that it has been played.

The original case contains the certificate of authenticity and shop traveler form (spec sheet) in the original book, plus other original paperwork, picks and the bridge cover.

The original, clear Telecaster pickguard is not included.  We are working on having one made.

Shipping policy:
There are two shipping cost options for purchases made on our site for these states and those to the east of them: Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.  Select Standard shipping at checkout and your item will be shipped via UPS three-day-air.  Select Economy shipping and your item will ship via UPS ground.  For Reverb purchases, there is one cost option for these Eastern states and shipment will be made by UPS three-day-air.  Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
