For sale is a rare and highly sought-after Gibson Les Paul Special ’55 Reissue from 1974, part of Gibson’s early vintage reissue efforts during the Norlin era. This vintage Les Paul Special captures the stripped-down, raw tone of the original 1955 models with dual P-90 pickups, a wraparound bridge, and solid mahogany body and neck construction—all made in the USA.

This ’74 reissue features a vintage-style slab mahogany body, set mahogany neck, and an unbound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The dual P-90 single-coil pickups deliver that unmistakable midrange growl, dynamic response, and fat, punchy tone that made the original Les Paul Special a favorite among blues, punk, and rock players.

The guitar weighs in at 8 pounds, 13.5 ounces.  The frets were very professionally replaced and a new nut was installed in the process, as is customary.  The jack plate seems to be changed as well.  All other parts are original, as is the finish.  There are no cracks, breaks or repairs other than the refret.  The instrument is in excellent condition, and it plays perfectly.  The truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustments.
