Marshall built the Model 2150 around a 100 watt, "four hole" (four input) chassis, putting it in a cabinet of manageable size with one 12" tank of a speaker, the Powercell. The speaker isn't well regarded, and most people seem to change them out. This one has been changed to a Celestion G12H-100, a good upgrade. The speaker seems to be dated to 1986.
The amp's inspection label dates it to 1978. I replaced one capacitor in the amp that was out of spec. The knobs appear to be reproduction parts. The power transformer was changed - the manufacturer date code on the US made replacement is from 2011.
Quite a bit of restoration work was done inside the amp. The pots are now wired to the circuit board with wire leads rather than being soldered directly tot he board. The pots appear to be original except for the master volume pot. Numerous components on the board have been updated. It seems that whomever worked on the amp wanted it to be easier to work on in the future - wiring the pots like this is a step in that direction.
There are new holes in the baffle for the speaker bolts as the holes for the G12H didn't line up with those for the original Powercell speaker.
Jump the two channels, using one preamp gain knob for each, netting huge gain and tone. The mast volume allows you to get gain at reasonable volumes, despite the 100 watts of output power. Of course, if you get the output section rolling the tone opens up even further, but either way you get the classic Marshall tone.
We tested the tubes and cleaned the pots prior to listing the amp. Everything is working well.
We will ship the amp in three boxes: one for the speaker, one for the chassis, and one for the cabinet. This is the only way to reliably ship the amp. The weight of the transformers can damage the chassis in shipment if the box is dropped, and the chassis or speaker could damage the cabinet.

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. We remove the chassis from some amps so that the large transformers don't damage a chassis or cabinet. We remove heavy speakers from some amps so they don't damage baffles. These cases result in multiple box shipments, and they require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
