Fender Deluxe Amp 1963 Pre CBS

Here's an opportunity to get some killer, pre-CBS tone without completely breaking the bank.  This amp has a couple changes that make it more affordable than a pristine example, while retaining the vintage tone of the amp.

At first glance, the amp looks clean and original.  Closer inspection reveals that it was nicely re-grilled.  The transformers all appear original, but the output transformer was actually swapped for a 1964 replacement.  Thanks to this similar-era replacement, the tone remains the same.  

Otherwise, the amp has been responsibly serviced prior to its arrival here.  One of the filter caps was replaced, as were the coupling caps in the circuit - things that just need to be done.  A few of the original, blue molded caps were replaced as well - they were likely leaking voltage.  The bias cap and resistor were updated  - an important maintenance effort that is often overlooked.  This work would cost some dough for sure, but it is all wrapped into the price of this solid-running amp.

The tremolo in these early black-panel amps is like the older, brown amps - smooth and sweet.  

The amp is capable of producing some killer overdrive, and it is widely understood that the non-reverb Deluxe has a slightly different and arguably better tone than the Deluxe Reverb.

The speaker has been changed for a recent Jensen and the power cable is now a grounded, three pronger.

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  We remove the chassis from some amps so that the large transformers don't damage a chassis or cabinet.  We remove heavy speakers from some amps so they don't damage baffles.  These cases result in multiple box shipments, and they require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
