This amp showed up recently as part of a collection purchase. It took me a while to dig in to figure out what it is.
The amp came up in conversation with Steve Walsh of Oso Amps, a UK builder and Vox encyclopedia. Steve was helping me do some service on a 1960 AC30 that I got in this collection, and I waved a photo of this head by him.
It turns out that Steve built about 50 of them, the last one in 2020.
Steve explained that this amp is "a full 715 replica with an AC15 add-on" - "a product of my furtive imagination"!
He was building this amp for a collector, and while in process they had a conversation about AC15s and how great EF86 tubes sound. Steve ended up fitting an AC15 preamp into this amp, inspired by the conversation.
Here is a video of the amp from just before Steve sent it to the US.
The amp simply rips with that unique Vox tone.

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently. Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping. We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com. Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
