Just 1950 of these Gibson Les Paul Special 1955 Reissues were made in 1974, the year this fantastic piece was built.  74 is also the last year that Gibson used mahogany for their necks until the return of the ES-335 Dot Neck Reissue in 1980.

Later 70's Specials used a stopbar and tune-o-matic bridge combo.  This wraparound bridge simply has better tone that is part of the equation that makes guitars like the '54 Les Paul and Les Paul Juniors from the 50s a tonal goal.

This particular example is in great shape.  It has been played, but it was also well cared for.  There are no issues or repairs.  The frets show light use that evenly graces the frets.  The pickguard on the guitar is the only change, which didn't require the addition of any new screw holes.  There is another pickguard in the case that appears to be the original.

There are a few dings and some playwear here and there, but nothing exceptional.  See the pics for details.

An original case is included - the purple-lined hardshell you'll see with more expensive Les Paul Customs, etc.
