Harmony Espanada H63 1960's Black
$2,400.00No sales tax for customers outside California.
Here we have one of the coolest Harmony or Silvertone guitars ever made. You'll see the Espanada with a Silvertone logo on the headstock, or the Espanada logo like this example.
Silvertone was the house brand for Sears and Roebuck from 1941 - 1970. Sears owned the name and applied it to guitars built by other manufacturers such as Harmony, Valco, Danelectro, and Kay. Silvertone itself was never a true manufacturer with a factory or luthiers - it is merely a marketing label. All guitars appearing in the Sears catalog, regardless of manufacturer, were branded as Silvertones.
The Silvertone Espanada H63 was actually manufactured by Harmony in Chicago. It came only in a black finish with white body binding.
This example is missing the pickguard, as seen on most as the plastic used because very brittle - most of them simply couldn't withstand any use after the plastic degraded over the years.
The frets have been replaced with some awesome feeling jumbo frets that give this example greater playability than any other Harmony we've come across. The work was professionally done. The tuners have been replaced with a nice Waverly set that didn't add new screw holes to the headstock, but it does appear that the post holes were widened slightly.
The rest of the guitar is original. The pickup rings have survived - another part that is commonly replaced on these guitars. The bridge pickup ring is hugging the pickup tightly, having shrunk a good bit.
The bridge pickup volume pot is a little funky. We've cleaned it several times. It seems like it is nearly at its end of life. If the guitar sits for a while the pot tends to get a little scratchy.
A nice hardshell case is included.
