We are big fans of guitars like this 1961 Harmony Meteor here at Mahar's Guitars.  It is always nice to find a nice, clean one like this example.

The guitar is in excellent condition and plays as well as any we've sold.  It is all original with no hardware changes.  It has seen a professional refret, which is a nice upgrade.

The case appears to be original to the guitar, something you don't see every day.

The Harmony H74 Meteor was famously used by several notable musicians, particularly in the 1960s and 70,, thanks to its affordability, versatility, and distinctive tone. One of the most iconic players associated with the Harmony Meteor was Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. Richards used a Harmony H74 Meteor during the early days of the Stones, including on tours and in the studio, contributing to the raw, jangly rhythm guitar sounds that defined their early recordings.

Another notable musician who embraced the Meteor was Dave Davies of The Kinks. The guitar's hollow-body design and DeArmond pickups played a role in shaping the gritty, innovative tones that helped define the British Invasion sound.  We're seeing touring guitarists returning to the classic tone of the Meteor these days as well.

While the Meteor didn’t achieve the same widespread fame as guitars from brands like Gibson or Fender, its use by influential artists cemented its status as a cult favorite. Today, it remains a cherished choice for players looking to tap into that authentic vintage tone with a connection to rock 'n' roll history.
