Hofner 457 S E2 1960's Sunburst

Archtops like this Hofner 457 E2 are great guitars to add to a more conventional collection as they bring quality with distinct voicing.  They also make great couch guitars, providing enough volume with cool tone to keep the chops going without plugging or playing your stiffer acoustic guitar.  The solid spruce top really contributes when enjoying the guitar in this manner.

This example has been refretted, and it plays really nicely, thanks in part to the factory zero fret. 

The only other change we see is a couple of extra, small screw holes in the back of the headstock, likely from installation of a different set of tuners.  The tuners on the guitar appear to be original, but I'm not certain that they are.  The truss rod was checked to make sure there is room for future neck relief adjustments.
