This 2017 Gibson Les Paul R9 True Historic is a limited edition ’59 Reissue expertly finished and aged by Tom Murphy, making it one of the most accurate and collectible replicas of the legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard ever produced. Part of Gibson’s True Historic Series, this guitar features period-correct plastics, hide glue construction, hand-carved maple top, and historically accurate neck profile—painstakingly recreated to match vintage specs in every detail.  As I understand it, the top carve on this guitar was pushed for by Tom when the guitar was in the planning stages to be the most vintage accurate to date.

This is a truly special instrument.  I had another Murphy from 2018 recently, with a Brazilian fretboard, which also blew us away.  This one definitely holds up to the other.  I'm not sure what's up with these limited runs - is it the pickups, the wood or both that push them above other R9s?  Who knows!

The purchase of this guitar by the original owner was arranged between he and Tom Murphy - they are friends.  The earliest serial number available was requested, with the first 5 going to rockstars.  This one is #6 of the run.

The guitar has been played very little.  There are no changes, repairs, or issues whatsoever.  

The weight is just about perfect at 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

All the original goodies are included in the aged, original case.

There are two shipping cost options for purchases made on our site for these states and those to the east of them: Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.  Select Standard shipping at checkout and your item will be shipped via UPS three-day-air.  Select Economy shipping and your item will ship via UPS ground.  For Reverb purchases, there is one cost option for these Eastern states and shipment will be made by UPS three-day-air.  Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
