Dual 1/4" TS jacks are wired in parallel let you plug your instrument into one and use the other as an output to your amp. The balanced XLR mic-level output feeds your mixer a clean and super-flat signal that is true to the source. Everyone knows that grounding issues and hum can be a problem at live gigs.
