This is my first shot at a Bruno amp.  I've been hearing great things about them for quite a while and was stoked to get a chance to try one out.

The anticipation was not wasted!  What a killer tone!

This version uses KT66 output tubes.  It appears that it was made like this in very low numbers, perhaps just a handful or less.

The amp is big sounding - really glassy and open.  It's a simple circuit, 60's Marshall-esque, and the controls are pretty straight forward as well.  There is a volume control for Normal and Bright channels, three tone controls and the presence control

In my opinion, the Bright channel is where its at, bringing even more of that glassy top end and all the fatness you could ever want.  Through an early 70's Marshall 4x12 it is capable of socking you in the gut, in a good way.  There is tons of low end available.  I ended up backing the bass way off and using the presence control to dial it in.  Pushing the volume pushes the output section, but not quite as much as you'd think.  There's plenty of breakup there, but not some much that it gets over the top.  I'm betting it will react great with pedals.

The amp feels and looks like a high end piece, sounds like one too.  Great stuff!

From the Bruno website:

The Bruno Pony 50 is British Plexi sound taken to it's finest with gobs of tone. This amp rocks with loud, strong, bright British tones that have superb detail and clarity. It has richly balanced clean and grind tones mixed with dynamic brilliance and great note articulation. The Pony 50 has a refined pristine voice that just gets lusher and more complex as you crank it up.

The Pony 50 features 50 watts of dual EL34 power, 3 - 12AX7s, and a solid state rectifier for tighter bass and dynamics. The cabinet is constructed of solid pine for its sweet brightness and then fine tuned with a birch ply baffle for superb resonance. Finger-jointed construction is used just like the finest furniture which provides a very strong, extremely rigid, rattle free cabinet that will last a lifetime. Other features include premium tolex coverings, padded handles, heavy duty feet, stainless steel screws/bolts and chromed steel corners. Standard finishes are black, brown, dark green, red or cream with an Art Deco style control panel and aged Ivory "chicken head" knobs.

It comes as a head or a 2x12 combo, however, a closed back cabinet is recommended for the most authentic tone.
