We're getting our kicks with 1966 here at Mahar's Guitars, adding this Strat to our recent list of '66 Fender acquisitions.

This Strat retains the original finish throughout and has no extra holes or other detrimental work done as you will find on other guitars in this price range.  Its a really nice player too.

Somewhat superficial changes include the replaced saddles.  The originals likely became rusty and not adjustable, but sadly the previous owner did not retain the original parts.

The pickguard shield is missing.  Shielding tape has been added to the pickguard.  Speaking of the pickguard, it shows age, wear and some shrinkage that makes it appear to be a viable original but I am not certain that it is.

The frets have been replaced with material that is approximately the same size but feeling taller than original frets.  This makes the guitar more playable to a certain degree, allowing for easier bends and some additional expressiveness.  We crowned and polished them.  Some players may still wish to get them dialed in to their own liking however.  There is plenty of fret life left to do so, then to play the guitar for years.

One area of finish wear has received a rookie touch-up, possibly with a marker.  Some people just can't handle when they wear through the dark edge of the sunburst...  Normal playwear will eventually wear through this spot and it will one day be forgotten.  There is no overspray or refinish work anywhere else on the guitar.

When we have a guitar with changes we like to go through the rest and affirm for you what is original.  Te pickups, pickup covers, knobs, pots, switch, output jack, lack cup, bridge plate, tremolo block, springs, tremolo claw, tuners, tuner bushings, neck plate, string tree - all are original, as are all the screws that hold these parts to the guitar.  The backplate is missing, as is the tremolo arm.  The original three-way switch fights us when we try to set it to the positions between.  I think the next owner should put a five-way switch in...

The original case is included.  The handle works but has been squished a bit and is missing the wrap around it.

If you need a Strat that has vibe, feel, and that classic sound, this is your guitar.
