This early 70s J-50 came in recently with some other player grade instruments.  I usually shy away from guitars like this, but it just played and sounded really good and the price seemed right, so here ya go!

The 70's wasn't the best decade for Gibson acoustic guitars, but if you get your hands on them you can find some that are pretty sweet.  Despite the disheveled appearance, this one fits that description.  I'd say this would be the perfect guitar to have around for camping trips or just hang up on the wall for daily access.

There are a couple body cracks that have been repaired.  No overspray was added to the body.  The bridge is original and the saddle is not sanded and lowered.  The binding is degrading here and there.

Frets are in decent shape and won't need work for some time.  The neck feels good, the truss rod is still effective for adjustments and the nut is set at the right height - no issues here.

The headstock was repaired at some point.  It's really hard to photograph, and there are no ugly signs of the work - it seems to have come back together nicely, perhaps it was just a stress crack.  The finish at the headstock/neck transition is opaque, so the repair is concealed.  Someone did a pretty sweet job of blending this opaque finish and matching color to the mahogany neck.  Clear coat overspray covers the length of the neck and the front/back of the headstock.  The serial number was concealed by this effort, with just the Made in USA stamp visible.

The original tuners are in place.  I almost swapped them out for repros, but I don't have any around right now.  There's some value there as the tuners are desirable and would sell quickly if you swap them out and sell them off.

Recent, non-original hardshell case included.
