The Marshall 2204S is a small, portable 50-watt beast that was made for just one year in this configuration. Some 2204s cabinets were covered this green tinted, 60s style tolex. Others, like this example, came in the in standard black tolex. We actually have a green tolex one in stock too.
You'll see a pic here with a 4x10 Marshall cab. It is the perfect pairing.
The amp is all original - no mods or hacked repairs. The original Drake transformers are in place. We tested all the tubes and put a set of new power tubes in there to get it just right.
Here's a quote from The Gear Page from a user of the 2204s, extolling the benefits of this fine Marshall model:
"I have one of these amps and my opinion is that it is a great amp - if you like other 2204 style amps - because that is what it is.
From what I understand - these were made for a year or so in 1986. They were built to pair with the 1965/1966 cabs that they also paired with the Artist hybrid head. They came in black an dark green tolex, as did the cabs. Internally, they were the same as "large" 2204's of the time.
Maybe it's too small a niche, but I don't understand why these aren't more popular. I can't (and don't really want to) port around a 4x12 cab, but I love the Marshall sound. With a slant 4x10 or 2x12, I get 90% of the tone and even the look, and I can fit it in the trunk of my 4 door sedan."
